We have come to the last day of Black History Month.

To end this month, I thought it would be a good idea to reflect on the history of birth within the black community.

Below I have attached a few videos to give you a deeper insight into what birth looked/s like in the black community.

 

In the UK, Maternal Mortality is 4x higher for black women than white women, infant mortality is 5x higher for black babies.  The black community currently suffers the highest mortality rate through childbirth, this needs to change, it’s going to take some time to reduce the numbers, but first we need to acknowledged it and then we can make steps to making childbirth safer for the black community, because It Matters.
